Complete Blood Count (CBC)
The CBC is one of the most commonly ordered blood tests. It measures the cellular components of your blood — red cells that carry oxygen, white cells that fight infection, and platelets that help with clotting. A CBC provides a broad snapshot of your overall health and can detect a wide range of conditions from anemia and infection to blood cancers.
What This Panel Screens For
Anemia, infection, immune deficiency, blood clotting disorders, blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma), chronic inflammation, nutritional deficiencies (iron, B12, folate), bone marrow disorders, and medication side effects that affect blood cell production.

When To Get This Panel
A CBC is typically part of any annual wellness exam or routine physical. It should also be ordered when you experience unexplained fatigue, weakness, bruising, bleeding, fever, or recurrent infections. Athletes may want a CBC to monitor for exercise-induced anemia or overtraining impacts on immune function.
Recommended Frequency
Annually for healthy adults as part of routine screening. Every 3-6 months if you have a known blood disorder, are on medications that affect blood counts (chemotherapy, immunosuppressants), or are monitoring a chronic condition.
How GATOR Normalizes Across Lab Vendors
GATOR standardizes CBC reference ranges across lab vendors including Function Health, LabCorp, and Quest. While each lab may report slightly different normal ranges for WBC (e.g., LabCorp uses 3.4-10.8 vs Quest 4.5-11.0 × 10³/µL), GATOR maps all results to a unified reference framework so your trends remain consistent regardless of which lab processed your blood draw.
