Calcium
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, with 99% stored in bones and teeth. Blood calcium is tightly regulated by parathyroid hormone (PTH), vitamin D, and calcitonin.
High calcium (hypercalcemia) most commonly results from hyperparathyroidism or malignancy. Low calcium can indicate vitamin D deficiency, hypoparathyroidism, or magnesium deficiency.
